The main challenge of the Innovation area is to provide innovative solutions, both algorithmic and implementation.

Currently, the Department of Innovation is in international expansion, opening new markets in Mexico, Chile and Germany.

Innovation Area Projects come into being, incorporating the most advanced techniques in terms of computational algorithms and the most appropriate technology for its implementation.
Each project in the Innovation Area is treated uniquely, studying business needs, technical requirements, finding the ideal solution to the problem, choosing the best consulting methods and algorithms and implementing the best technology and most appropriate management methods.
Thus, the Innovation Area ensures a high degree of quality in all products delivered, maintaining internal processes of quality assurance and a close relationship with the client to ensure that the solution offered meets their expectations.

 


Experience

 

Grupo AIA began with the clear objective of providing innovative solutions for industrial problems. The Innovation Department has been responsible for providing company related innovation for more than 20 years.
Having gained experience in the energy sector, Grupo AIA has developed consultancy processes for the main electricity companies in the Spain. We have continued our expansion into the gas sector, providing consulting and forecasting solutions, which include a complete gas demand forecast system called Viking, developed for one of our main customers, which is integrated into their daily workflow. Currently AIA is a supplier in the creation of support tools and automation in new protocol emissions, distribution and balances of the gas system.

For more than 10 years, the Innovation Department has been involved in the telecommunications sector, undertaking one of the first projects in the country’s social networks. Grupo AIA continued providing products and services in the sector during 2012 reaching with the Customer Lifecycle.

The Innovation Department’s potential is in constant evolution, which has meant being able to enter historically into areas such as automated recommendation systems, social networks, artificial intelligence and advanced modelling, becoming one of the leading companies in the sector.

 


Team led by:

 

Vicenç Gaitán Alcalde. Research Director of Business Innovation Unit. Vicenç got his degree in Physics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in 1989 with honours. Ph.D. in Physics from the UAB in 1993. Researcher at the Institute of High Energy Physics, UAB (1987-1989). When he finished his degree, he worked as a professor at the UAB and became a member of the High Energy Physics Laboratory. In 1990, he joined the collaboration between the Laboratory CERN, ALEPH. He has taught courses on mathematical methods for physics, quantum mechanics and experimental techniques. His research focuses on the processes and parameters measuring coupling constants in ALEPH research work, as well as neural networks and their applications to high-energy physics and related fields. He has worked on more than eighty research papers in the ALEPH experiment. In 1993, he joined AIA. Since then, he has developed a deep knowledge in electricity network modelling and in the implementation of AI techniques in numerous industrial projects.
