Antoni Trias got his PhD in Physics in 1974 from Universidad de Barcelona. Later had a Post-Doctoral research fellow stay (1974 -1976) at the Lawrence Berkeley Lab at the University of California, taught Theoretical Physics at Universidad Simón Bolívar, Caracas until 1985. Tenured lecturer at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in 1986. Author of more than 50 research papers and directed many masters and PhDs theses:

He was also visiting professor at the State University of New York, in Stony Brook (invited by the Nobel Prize Professor CN Yang), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Institute of Physics in Montevideo (Uruguay).
He has led for 25 years in Grupo AIA the development of a series of algorithms suitable for the solution of complex industrial problems. The key to success has been his capacity to combine mathematical modeling and theoretical physics with algorithms of optimization and Artificial Intelligence techniques and to apply them efficiently in the industrial world.
